Brass Tap Midtown: Beer and Girl Scout Cookie Tasting

Girl Scout Cookies are delicious and addictive. We all know Thin Mints, Trefoils, and Tagalongs pair amazingly well with a cold glass of milk, but what about beer? Brass Tap Midtown has answered that question with a resounding yes, and on March 8th will host their annual Girl Scout Cookie and Beer pairing event.

This year’s sweet extravaganza runs from open to close (4pm to 2 am) at their Thomasville Road location. $10 gets you a flight of beers paired with select Girl Scout cookies (including everyone’s favorite, the Thin Mint).

The Brass Tap selected four lucky brews paired with four delicious cookies. Included on the flight are two brewed by Tallahassee’s very own Deep Brewing Company. The lineup includes:

  • Nitro Deep Nyctophile with Thin Mint,
  • Rouge Oatmeal Stout with S’more,
  • Duclaw Sweet Baby Java with Tagalong, and
  • Deep Neutral Buoyancy with Samoas.

Each was delicious, but of the four, the two that stood out were the featured Tallahassee beers. Deep’s smooth Nyctophile stout with hints of sweetness and rich coffee notes was a perfect match with the minty goodness of the Thin Mint. My favorite couple was Deep’s Neutral Buoyancy hefeweizen, complete with tropical notes of bananas and cloves that was paired with the coconut and chocolate filled Samosa.

When you’re finished with the Girl Scout Cookie flight, the Brass Tap also features a full menu. Flatbreads and tasty bar snacks are available, along with 17 local Florida beers and craft distilled products from St. Augustine, Manifest, and Siesta Key distilleries. The Brass Tap is open seven days a week and for more information follow them on Facebook and Instagram (@brasstapmidtown).
