Bella Bella

Bella Bella - Tallahassee, FL - Photo by Mike BonfantiMy parents, for reasons known only to them, stubbornly refuse to move from the ice encrusted state of New Hampshire. Recently they ice-picked their way out of the frozen north and came down to celebrate a pair of grandchildren’s birthdays and visit their attorney sons. While in Tallahassee they invited Kirsten and me out for lunch. After whittling several places off the list we decided to pay Bella Bella a visit for lunch.

Bella Bella is located at 123 E. 5th Ave. and after making a couple of wrong turns my mom and dad pulled into the parking lot. We were seated by the hostess in the front dining room, provided menus, and told our waitress would be right along. True to her word, she appeared moments later to take our drink orders and provide us with a list of specials.

The front dining room at Bella Bella was welcoming. A dark wooden bar lined with high-back chair fills one side of the space. Tables were thoughtfully arranged to provide enough privacy for good conversations. For more on Bella Bella read the full review on Tallahassee.com.

  1. My name doesn’t end in a vowel but I do like Italian fare. For me, Bella Bella is the best the area has to offer. Z. Bardhi’s Italian Grill is another favorite, but it is so much more than Italian I’m not sure it fits in the same category as Bella Bella. Next time, consider the fresh catch or the Eggplant Rollatini. Or perhaps the Capellini Marinara. Those are my personal favorites.

Over the years I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Carrabba’s. It’s okay in a pinch and for a national chain I think it is very good. But, Italian is something that seems to be difficult on a mass scale. I think you made the right decision for lunch with your mom and dad.
