Midtown Caboose

On the corner of Meridian and E. 7th Street they tore down Paradise and put up a burger joint.  The much anticipated Midtown Caboose is the latest venture of seasoned Tallahassee burger czars Matthew and Adam Wells.  Joe and I pulled into the parking lot on a bright sunny afternoon excited to see if the spot lived up to the hype.

We entered and were immediately greeted by a smiling hostess.  She sat us in a table on the left side of the restaurant and told us our server would appear momentarily.  Our waiter arrived as she departed, took our drink orders, and left us with a pair of menus.  I had forgotten to eat breakfast, and made an executive decision to order an appetizer.  Crab Rangoon, pizza chips, and pulled pork wantons all caught my eye.  Being a sucker for anything with the words “buffalo chicken” in the title, I ordered Uncle Trav’s Buffalo Chicken Dip.  The waiter darted off to kitchen, and told us he would return in a few minutes to take the rest of our orders. 1. For a non-burger option, I recommend the Nighthawk. Pastrami, bacon, jalapeno cilantro coleslaw, all heated with melty provolone cheese on rye. (Includes a fried egg, too, because the craze is to have a fried egg on everything, but I had them leave that off of mine). Delicious.

  2. The biggest problem with that location has always been the parking. Has that changed? I’ve wanted to go there but haven’t taken the plunge.

  3. I wish I’d have had your experience when I went here. I found everything to be a little lackluster—service, presentation, the works. And yeah, the parking was a nightmare. There was one plate out of four that everyone thought was good, and everything else was just a little under par. Glad you had a good experience, maybe I’ll have to give it a shot again in a few months to see if anything has changed.
