The 2:30 blahs hit me like a ton of bricks. I was knee deep in an evaluation and wanted something other than a cup of coffee or the mushy peach that stared at me from my credenza. I decided to head over to Fuzions to check out the place and grab something cold.
Fuzions is located on the north side of Kerry Forest Parkway in the same plaza that houses the Red Elephant. The interior is bright and modern. The walls are painted orange, red, and a cool mint green. Two flat screen televisions were located on the left while the frozen yogurt, various toppings, and cash register were on the right.
I walked up and checked out the various flavors. I knew from checking out their website that they were all fat free. While I was looking around a staff member noticed my bewildered face and asked if I wanted to try any of their flavors. Taro looked intriguing and she told me it was a root vegetable. I took the sample cup and promptly covered the shiny shelf under the machine with purple colored yogurt. She kindly told me to put it under the red nozzle.
The taro root yogurt was slightly sweet with a flavor that was unfamiliar to me. I decided to pair it with cocoa yogurt, plump blackberries, kiwi fruit slices and a light dusting of graham cracker crumbs.
After preparing my treat the girl weighed it. At $0.49 an ounce the price adds up quickly, and despite going light on the toppings I was hoping my fro yo creation would not break the bank. She weighed it and it came in at a shade under $6.00. Not too bad.
I sat at a high top and sampled my creation. The cocoa frozen yogurt had a rich chocolate taste and paired well with the toppings I selected. The fruit was very fresh and the taro root yogurt was interesting. I was pleased with my frozen treat and know where to head next time I have an itch for something cold, sweet and healthy.
