Yesterday a couple of us from the office decided to try Rummy’s. It is a short drive from the office on Thomasville Road in the same plaza as Starbucks. We got there a little a little after noon and several tables were already filled. We sat down in a booth with a good view of the televisions and looked over the menus.
Rummy’s offers a large selection of pizzas, calzones, sandwiches and other bar foods. I had just had a calzone last night so instead of trying theirs, I ordered a grilled buffalo chicken sandwich. Joe ordered a calzone while Betsy went wild and got a 10″ Hawaiian pizza.
Our order came out quickly and I immediately had a case of food envy. Joes calzone was huge. It was so large it hung off the plate and he offered up a piece to me. It was nicely browned on the outside and filled with mozzarela and ricotta cheese. It was very good.
I turned my attention to the buffalo chicken sandwich sitting in front of me. It was no calzone, but it turned out to be pretty good. The buffalo chicken sauce was creamy instead of the classic version, but had a good flavor. The fries were also nice and crunchy.
Overall, the service at Rummy’s was good and so was the food. It was a good lunch and I am glad I checked out another place to grab lunch on the northeast side of town.
