I emailed my friend Joe this week to see if he wanted to meet up for lunch. I suggested we eat at Momo’s off of Thomasville Road. I failed to remember that Joe is on a healthy diet and when we met felt bad that I had picked a pizza place. He told me not to worry and that he checked the menu online to make sure they had salads.
The inside of this Momo’s has the same funky feel at the one over on Tennessee Street with various random flag hanging on the wall and exposed trussed overhead. Regardless, it felt like a new and improved version of the standby near FSU’s campus. I think it had something to do with being further away from campus or not having as much beer spilled on its floor
We sat in a booth and a waitress with a lip ring brought us a couple of menus. Joe ordered a salad (hooray for being healthy!) while I opted for a slice of pepperoni pizza (hooray for cured meat!). While we waited and chatted the restaurant filled up until the only seats left were on the open air patio. With the humidity hovering at 95% I was happy we had found indoor seating
My slice came out fairly quickly, and as advertised it was as big as my head. The slice was also not as greasy as I remember the pizza being over on Tennessee Street while in law school. The pizza also had a nice thin crust and was covered with a good amount of pepperoni without being too much. It was good eats. I probably could have eaten another slice, but would have felt guilty afterwards.
Lunch was great. I was very happy to see Joe and I was happy to have finally made my way over to Momo’s after too long of a break.
