This morning I was in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida for work. I finished the deposition and went to get some lunch before making the 3+ hour drive back to Tallahassee. I checked out some local restaurant reviews and decided to try Thai Town.
It was a five-minute drive from the court reporter’s office and I found it with no problems thanks to my Sprint GPS. Thai City sits on Mary Ester Cut Off in a grey building with 2 large signs. Upon entering Thai art adorns the walls with the kitchen and cash register to the left and the dining room to the right. I sat down and the waitress came over to take my drink order.
The lunch menu was very reasonably priced and after checking it out settled on the Flavor of Thai Town. Chili past, cabbage, broccoli, mushrooms, snow peas, bell peppers, Thai basil and pork. There were several options for heat and I opted for Thai spicy.
After taking my order the waitress reappeared with a steaming bowl of egg drop soup and a spring roll. While I enjoyed the soup (very good) and spring roll (okay) the restaurant began to fill up. It was a pleasant place to be on a chilly afternoon.
My lunch came a few moments later. It was a very generous portion for lunch. The food was great with loads of fresh vegetables, lean pork and white rice. It was also ridiculously spicy and beads of sweat formed on my nose, forehead and neck as I worked my way through my meal. My mouth was on fire, my sinuses were clear and I wished Thai Town was in Tallahassee instead of Ft. Walton Beach.
By the time I finished my meal I was very full and happy. The service and food at Thai Town was top-notch. The next time I am in the area and crave Thai I will definitely stop by Thai Town.
